What a great idea: Find the carers, help the patients

The announcement that Sainsbury’s pharmacists are being encouraged to identify carers and signpost them to local care organisations (1) is a great idea which we welcome at bookapharmacist.com.

The idea works on a number of levels:

• It will encourage pharmacist engagement with this group of customers.
• It will ultimately mean that those at need get the help they are entitled to through signposting and targeted healthcare services.
